Complete the A Bridge Too Far quest, then check your mail the following day for a letter from Ridge containing the Charcoal recipe. At a Furnace, process 1 standard Wood to make Charcoal. The ingredient must be the item named Wood; Dark Wood and Light Wood do not work for this recipe.

- Wait until the next day and read Ridge's letter.
- Have a Furnace and at least 1 standard Wood.
Steps
- Finish the A Bridge Too Far quest.
- On the following day, read the letter from Ridge to unlock the recipe.
- Interact with a Furnace and select Charcoal.
- Add 1 standard Wood. Do not substitute Dark Wood or Light Wood.
- Collect the Charcoal and use it as Furnace fuel.
